Assembly Republicans have introduced a package common-sense health care reform measures designed to maximize choice, reduce costs, and increase access to quality medical care for all Californians – without tax increases or creating new government programs. We believe that you should be empowered to choose the plan that best fits your health needs and your family’s budget constraints.
Democrats, on the other hand, have proposed the largest tax increases on businesses in California history -- $6.6 billion – to pay for their health care plan.
Businesses small and large would be forced to pay a new 7.5 percent jobs tax to pay for expensive, mandated health coverage for their workers. They trust the government, not the people, to make health care decisions.
As we shape California’s health care future this year, ask yourself the following questions when deciding which approach is best for you and your family:
How will putting the government in charge of health care affect quality care for me and my family? Will I have to wait in long lines and pay even more out of pocket? Will medical care be rationed?
How will this plan affect California businesses? Will this plan give business owners more affordable health care options for their workers? Will this plan force businesses to raise prices, layoff workers or close their doors?
How will this plan affect California’s budget? Will California be able to afford the price tag of the new government programs being proposed without higher taxes?
