Fresno is located in the central San Joaquin Valley of California. To the west it is predominantly flat, with thousands of acres devoted to agriculture. To the east, the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains rise out of the low foothills. The Fresno Water Tower listed on the National Register of Historic Places once held over 250,000 gallons of water for the city of Fresno.
Welcome to my State Assembly website
I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit, and hope that this site will help you unlock the doors of state government. On my site, you will learn more about my work fighting for Central Valley families as I represent the people of the 29th Assembly District.
You will also learn about my responsibilities as the Assembly Republican Leader. Representing the Assembly’s 32 Republican members, I work hard to advance our legislative agenda, promote our ideas, and champion our ideals as lead negotiator during “Big 5” sessions with Governor Schwarzenegger and the bipartisan legislative leaders.
Our Republican priorities this year are the priorities shared by California’s working families:
- Balancing the budget without raising taxes;
- Encouraging more job creation in California;
- Keeping dangerous criminals locked up behind bars where they belong;
- Improving our schools so every child is prepared to succeed; and
- Restoring the voice of the people to their government
As you click through the site, you can review the legislation I have authored this session and learn where I stand on the critical issues facing California. You can also read my latest editorials and press releases, and take a look at the latest pictures in my photo album.
My dedicated staff and I are here to serve you, and are ready to assist you with your state-related problems. If you have an issue with state agencies like the Franchise Tax Board or the Department of Motor Vehicles, please write or call my office and we will be happy to help. You can always e-mail me your questions, comments and requests to Assemblymember.Villines@assembly.ca.gov.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you will visit often in the future.
